The Chief and Res are on the move this weekend and aren’t able to record their weekly pod. That said, the Chief is here to share his NFL pick research and notes.
First let’s recap what happened last weekend:
The Chief missed his Pick of the Week as the Lions had a rough outing in Baltimore. A 2-1 Sunday made him even for week 7.
Res’ teasers went cold as the Bills defense showed more cracks 0-2. We rebounded on Monday night with the game Under.
NHL has been up and down as the team navigates the beginning of the season. Somehow the Bruins lost at home with a two goal lead and two minutes to go.
Onto NFL Week 8!
Here are three game reviews:
a) JAX -1.5 vs PIT; 40.5 O/U
The Jags run game has been a pleasant surprise. They should be successful in this somewhat likely rain affected game in Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh is giving up 4.7 yards/attempt. This should set up success for the Jags offense.
The Steelers offense has been touch and go, but the defensive unit has been plahying well. I don’t think this will be enough to battle the Jags. Jags have covered 6 straight road games under Doug Pederson.
Not a fan of the under here; it’s probably weather driven, but absent rain, I would actually take the over.
Game 1 picks/leans: JAX -1.5
b) CLE +3.5 vs SEA; 37.5 O/U
The Browns QB situation is just not good. With the Seahawks limiting opposing RB’s to 3.5 yards per attempt, I like where this game script is headed.
Seattle has some injuries but I like their depth and see them stepping up. Browns have not faired well at NFC West venues.
Game 2 picks/leans: SEA -3.5
c) NYJ -3 vs. NYG; 35.5 O/U
The Giants have played their worse ball. While their offense has been slow to improve, I think the defense is getting better.
Low totals seem to yield low scoring games. The last 8 times the total was below 37 in the NFL, the UNDER hit 5 times.
The Chief’s NFL Week 8 pick of the week is Seattle -3.5, -110
